Description

Do you believe in ghosts?

Me neither.

I mean, I never used to believe in them.

But then I went to  Salem, Massachusetts, aka "The Witch City," for Halloween.

Wow! What a pack of strange people. And maybe they weren't all real people anyway. Maybe they really were zombies, and Vampires, and what-all.

And as for the ghosts....

As you probably know, I used to be a New York girl. I lived with Jeffrey, my human, and we had a lovely time in the big city. When we moved to Boston last winter, Jeffrey told me I'd probably like Boston a lot because there is no place like it.

True!

Anyway, I was homesick at first. But then I made a lot of new friends at our dog park in the South End, and I felt better. First came Siggy, short for Sigmund. He is a handsome, really smart, white English Bull Terrier like that famous T****t dog.

Then I met Rex, a German Shepherd, and Ramona, a Basset Hound, and Buddy, a dog of no pedigree who turned up one day with his homeless human.

And I met Clooney, and Trixie, and Larry—lots of folks!

I went for a swim in Boston Harbor on New Year's Day, and I went on a march to save our dog park from a developer. And I had many more adventures that you can read about in Rebecca's earlier books. Rebecca being my writer, as it says on the book cover.

Which brings us to Halloween.

So I will ask you again: Do you believe in ghosts?

Because I am here to tell you, even though I didn't used to believe in them, I sure do now. After we spent a night in a haunted house in Salem, I absolutely, positively believe in ghosts.

We went to Salem for Halloween because Siggy's human, Dr. Henry, has an ancient aunt who lives there. And Dr. Henry promised her he'd visit her on Halloween. He took a few of us dogs with him. Before we visited Great-aunt Hepzibah, we visited a coven of witches. They were nice enough, just a little bit scary. We watched a Halloween parade with a lot of really, really weird guys in it. We finally went to the place where Great-aunt Hepzibah lives, which turned out to be a haunted house. I mean, a place where you pay admission to go inside and be scared out of your wits. For some reason, humans like to do that, and so Great-aunt Hepzibah does a good business at Halloween.

It was pretty scary, not too bad, but then we got trapped there overnight. And it was in those late-night hours that we saw the ghosts.

Two of them.

I will just tell you that I was so glad to get back to Boston and our dog park, you wouldn't believe it.

But perhaps, just maybe, after reading Rebecca's account of our adventures in Danielle's Halloween, you might believe in ghosts.
